Ingredients
2 Cups Flour
2 Tablespoons Baking Powder
1 Teaspoon Salt
6 Tablespoons Butter
1/2 Cup Buttermilk
1 Large Eggs
1 Cup Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese
Directions
Preheat oven to 425 degrees
Measure out 2 cups of flour and remove 2 tablespoons. Use the two tablespoons to coat 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Set cheese aside
In a medium sized bowl, mix flour, salt, and baking soda.
Add 6 tablespoons of butter. With a pastry cutter, cut in butter until it is about pea sized.
Slightly beat egg and mix with buttermilk
Pour into flour mixture. Lightly with a fork or your fingers, incorporate liquid until there are no dry pockets. DO NOT OVERMIX!
Turn out onto a floured surface and lightly knead about 4 times. Form into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into 8 rectangles.
Place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
Optional: Comine 1 egg with 1 Tablespoon of milk and brush the top of the biscuits for a shiny and browned finish.
Bake at 425 for about 20 minutes.
